Him: “I missed you…I’ve thought about you alot lately”

Me: “Hmmm really? Aww isn’t that sweet”

Him: “So I take it you don’t feel the same?”

Me: “Well, the last time we spoke, I didn’t expect to be hearing this statement from you. I thought it was done.”

Him: “So you don’t want to get back together?”

Me: *Thinks about dates in the week* — “No I don’t think so”

Him: “Oh come on we weren’t that bad”

Me: “Are you kidding me? When it was good, it was good. But when it was bad — it was miserable. I don’t want to go back to that again. We are better like this, as friends.”

Him: “I just miss being with you and talking to you.”

Me: “Loneliness brings out the past in all of us. We think of lost love, of a happier time.”

A part of me finds it flattering that an ex would want to rekindle something lost or in the past. But that ship has sailed.
